About Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad is a nationwide competition where students who are passionate about science and STEM subjects come together to form teams from their schools and participate in events with scientific themes, which include a wide variety of topics from astronomy to building mousetrap cars.

Science Olympiad has three types of events: study, for which competitors study topics and then take a test about that topic as described in that year's events catalog; lab, for which competitors complete a laboratory experiment and then proceed to answer some questions about the topic; and build, for which teams build contraptions before the competition and then present their creations before judges on the day of.

Science Olympiad members can join anywhere from one to multiple events given that the event times do not overlap during the day of the competition. Go ahead and take a look at the 2018-19 SciOly event catalog and see if there's one or more events you're interested in - and if there's one you like, come join our club and compete in that event!

"Founded in 1984, Science Olympiad is one of the premier science competitions in the nation, providing rigorous, standards-based challenges to 7,800 teams in all 50 states."
